A vintage movie poster of ''Strike Up the Band'', a 1940 American musical film directed by Busby Berkeley and produced by Arthur Freed. The film stars Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland in the lead roles and features a supporting cast that includes Paul Whiteman and His Orchestra, June Preisser, and William Tracy.
The story revolves around a group of high school students, led by Jimmy Connors (Mickey Rooney) and Mary Holden (Judy Garland), who are passionate about forming a school band. However, their dreams are thwarted by a lack of funding and support from the school administration. To raise money for their band, they decide to enter a national radio contest with a grand prize of $1,000. The film follows their journey as they face various challenges and obstacles in their quest to win the competition.
